Merriweather: Review - Phish at MPP [Baltimore Sun]
Last year, when I reviewed Phish’s show at Merriweather Post Pavilion, a commenter named Matthew Pugh said he could write a better review than me. Instead of telling him to buzz off, I told him to prove it, and recruited him to review Phish this time around. Here is his review of Saturday’s show:

Scott Hauser, who was at the show, called the presence of some 75 police officers “laughable” and “overly aggressive.” In an e-mail to The Sun, he said a friend was pulled from his truck and charged with assault after a verbal altercation with an undercover officer, and saw another person ordered to stop selling water. “If you see someone selling drugs, arrest them,” Hauser wrote. “If you see someone having a good time or selling water so they can go to the next show, let them be.”

A night at the symphony is the most sought-after concert ticket in town this week. But while conductor Marin Alsop and her Baltimore orchestra will be on stage, they’re not exactly the main draw.
That would be Trey Anastasio, the guitarist and vocalist best known as the frontman of Phish, which enjoys a devoted fan base not seen since the Grateful Dead. On Thursday, Anastasio will perform the East Coast premiere of Time Turns Elastic, a 30-minute piece that blends electric guitar and vocal solos into a rich orchestral fabric. The concert sold out three days after tickets went on sale.
