Live Listening Party: Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of 3/21/92 at The Blockley [The Blockley]

3/21/1992 Twenty Years Later: A Night Dedicated to Celebrating the PHISH

March 21, 1992 at the Chesnut Cabaret in Philadelphia was a typical ’92 smoker! Secret language all over the place, that ’92 energy ripped, and a YEM complete with Three Blind Mice reared its lumpy head.  Tomorrow night, the Blockley in Philadelphia would like to invite everyone to come and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the one and only time Phish graced our West Philadelphia stage! There will be 1/2 priced drafts until 10 PM and “Lot-Tails” such as Reba’s Toxic Purple Paste, the Makisupa Swizzle, Piper’s Sour (Complete with worms!), and Bathtub Gin Punch… You in the Eye!  Phish Quizzo/Happy Hour will start around 8 PM and 3/21/92 will begin playing over the PA around 9:30.  Throughout the night there will be giveaways (think 3-day Bader Field Pass and other Phish goodies), surprise jams, DVD Footage and other related Videography, and a Phan-friendly food menu, taboot!  Look for Mike the Rager behind the bar in his magical vest! Come on down, and FEEL THE FEELING YOU FORGOT!

When: Wednesday 3/21/2012 @ 8 PM
Where: The Blockley, 38th and Chestnut, Philadelphia, PA

Trey Anastasio: Trey Announces Electric/Acoustic Winter Tour [Hidden Track]

Trey Anastasio announced today a two-week tour opening Friday February 18th at the newly re-opened State Theater in Portland, ME and closing 15 days later on Saturday March 5th at Oakland’s Fox Theater. The band lineup is identical to the band that toured last February and most recently played at the Hangout Festival in May of 2010: Tony Markellis on bass, Russ Lawton on drums and Ray Paczkowski on keyboards as well as a three-piece horn section featuring Jennifer Hartswick, Russ Remington and Natalie Cressman.

Trey: Big Reds – Trey Treats Conan to Alaska [Hidden Track]

Former 70 Volt Parade front man Trey Anastasio joined fellow redhead Conan O’Brien onstage tonight during the TV host’s show at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA. Big Red led the Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour Band through a take on the Marshall/Anastasio ditty Alaska while wearing a Philadelphia Flyers jersey. Trey has played with the band’s guitarist and musical director – Jimmy Vivino – at the last Jammy’s Award ceremony when the Phish guitarist sat in with the Fab Faux.

Reviews: Mike Gordon @ the TLA [Ordered Chaos]

As the second set started, I realized that the band didn’t play many songs (remember the obvious point I missed? JAM BAND!). I finally had the “Duh!” moment during the second set because the band really settled into complete “Jam” mode. For the next 90+ minutes, I would be lying if I said they played more than 5 or 6 different songs. The Jam got loser than the first set and they let the music go where it wanted to. Tom played one of his original tunes which he modified for jam-ocity and it was excellent\very “sing-a-long” as Gordon rightfully put it.

Last night was a great gig! We had some folks from The Chieftains sit-in with us during the first set, and that was cool but I thought that second set raged!

It was a rainy day in Philadelphia but I walked to a coffee shop anyway and skyped with Cheryl for a bit. South street is a pretty cool neighborhood.

Philadelphia: Review – Nothing Wrong With A Good Phish Show [Hidden Track]

History will not look kindly on the show Phish played at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia last night. The band threw down one of the best, if not the best, show since they reunited on Tuesday night featuring a dream setlist filled with blockbusters. We all knew what would happen the next night – a standard Phish show. And that’s indeed what happened, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a standard Phish show.

Philadelphia: Scorching Guitar-work and plain ol’ Noodling [Philadelphia Inquirer]

The band seemed tighter and smoother than their June show in Camden, when they were getting back on the road after a five-year hiatus. Like that show, this one kicked off with a positively chooglin’ version of “Chalk Dust Torture,” Page McConnell’s barroom piano moving along the boogie forwarded by singer-guitarist Trey Anastasio. Sporting the No. 18 Flyers home jersey of team captain Mike Richards, Anastasio came out firing, his deceptively light-fingered style and high tone producing a compelling scorch for all eight minutes.

Philadelphia: Back at Home Again [Phish Thoughts]

Philadelphia Phish – there ain’t nuthin’ like it! As the band hit the first show of their major east coast arena run, they rolled out two sets of top-notch playing and a setlist that bordered on make-believe. With no filler in either frame, the band threw down a full-length party at the Wachovia Center last night. With a first set filled with rarities, and improv strewn throughout both sets, Phish slaughtered what has to be considered the strongest full show of the fall.
