SPAC: What You Need to Know About SPAC [PhanArt]

The cops will be looking for drugs more than booze with the older crowd. They see you drinking, dip in a stick detector for alcohol, and then they can search you. Arcane? Yes. Illegal? Possibly. Outlandish and Insane? Yup.

Hotels have been given a contact number to call if they suspect drug use. So be careful when you are pre-gaming at the hotel or getting back and trying to enjoy the post-show scene or get some sleep.

Venues: The Wild Cards of Summer [Phish Thoughts]

Lakewood Amphitheatre – Atlanta, GA

Having hosted no less than eight Phish shows between 1995 and 2003, Lakewood has seen more than its fair share of epic jams. Several Lakewood highlights need no introduction – 6.15.95’s “David Bowie,” 7.23.97’s “Ghost,” considered one of the all-time greats, the legendary “Ghost > Slave” from  July 4, 1999, and the first set “Tweezer” of 6.24.00. And these are just the creme de la creme.

Previews: Venue Segues - The Road to MSG [Hidden Track]

For an example of how the Phish fanbase grew exponentially in 1994, you need to look no further than at the venues the quartet played in New York City that fateful year. In April of ‘94 the band sold out three shows at the 2800-capacity Beacon Theatre. Just eight months later, Phish sold out the 20K-capacity Madison Square Garden in a matter of minutes.

Lists: 10 Venues Phish Should Play [Hidden Track]

4. Bethel Woods - Bethel, NY

This state-of-the-art venue opened in 2006 on the site of the Woodstock Festival.  I caught the GRAB/Phil show back in 2006 and can attest to the beauty of the site. Bethel Woods is the rare venue with a lawn you can actually see and hear the show from.

SPAC: Tips For Navigating SPAC [Coventry]

My guess is the largest shakedown street area will be the main route 50 parking lot. If you want to park in this lot, my advice is to get there early. It will fill. There is also parking on the opposite side of route 50 in various impromptu lots and this can be a bit of a hike also. There is a pedestrian bridge across rte 50. USE IT.

Venues: Georgia Theatre - Rising From The Ashes [JamBase]

There’s Tipitina’s in New Orleans, the Exit/In in Nashville and the Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA. Not necessarily the biggest and shiniest venues in town, but hallowed buildings loved by all who’ve been inside and cultural centers where music fans convene on a nightly basis to enjoy live music in a welcoming environment amongst friends and neighbors. These are the places where everyone from the bartender to the intern working the ticket booth could talk your ears off for hours about the bands coming to town. These are not just the places you go to see your favorite band but the kind of place you go just because it’s the thing to do.

With performances in ‘93, ‘97, and ‘00, the band had ample time between gigs to evolve into a completely different animal each time; every show providing a snapshot of Phish’s musical place in time.
